Beginning of a New Era in Mineral Exploration in India

Jaipur. In a historic event, the Ministry of Mines organized a mega roadshow in Goa, marking the commencement of India’s first-ever auction of Exploration Licenses (ELs) for critical minerals. The event was graced by Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, and Goa Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Chief secretary of Goa Dr. V Candavelou and Secretary ministry of Coal and Mines Mr. V L Kantha Rao were there in event reflecting the government's commitment to boosting private sector participation in mineral exploration. During the roadshow, 13 exploration blocks were auctioned, focusing on rare earth elements, zinc, diamonds, and copper. This initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of strengthening India’s mineral resource assessment and achieving self-reliance in critical minerals by encouraging private sector involvement. A significant milestone of this event was the recognition of three private entities as Notified Private Exploration Agencies (NPEAs), including Enkay Enviro Services Pvt. Ltd., led by Sunita Mantri. Enkay Enviro Services Pvt. Ltd. is regarded as a leading company providing sustainable environmental solutions in India.

Sunita Mantri, the only female leader in India’s private mineral exploration sector, expressed her company’s commitment to the Prime Minister’s vision. She lauded the ministry’s initiative of recognizing private companies and termed it a crucial step toward strengthening the country’s mineral economy. She emphasized the need for promoting an integrated approval system for private mining companies and attracting more young professionals to this sector through innovation and digitalization.

Launch of Roadshow for Mineral Blocks and AI Hackathon-2025

The event also witnessed the launch of the fifth phase of the mineral block roadshow and the AI Hackathon-2025, themed "Use of AI in Mineral Targeting." These initiatives are expected to accelerate exploration activities, increase private sector participation, and enhance India’s mineral security and self-sufficiency. The Ministry of Mines' strategic initiative will help unlock India's untapped deep-seated and critical mineral resources, propelling the country towards a new era of mineral exploration and establishing a strong global position.
